Comprehensive, NRA-Certified Classes
We believe in arming our customers with the knowledge and training they need to be responsible gun owners. We can help you obtain your pistol permit and master the basics of handling firearms. We can also help you broaden your knowledge of self-defense and home security.
Here’s a look at our selection of training & gun safety classes:
Basic Pistol
Our NRA-certified Basic Pistol course teaches students how revolvers and semi-automatic pistols work. We teach our students about ammunition, calibers, proper stance, and grip. Once students have mastered the basics, we teach them how to aim and shoot a pistol.
We use an advanced shooting simulator to help students prepare for live fire practice at a range. Students receive their certification upon successful completion of the course. Live-fire range practice is coordinated on a per student basis.
$50/4 Hours + Range Time
Women’s Basic Pistol
In our Women’s Basic Pistol course, our instructor will demonstrate and explain how revolvers and semi-automatic pistols work. Students will also learn and master the basics of ammunition, calibers, proper grip, and stance. Once students have mastered the basics, we teach them how to aim and shoot a pistol.
We use an advanced shooting simulator to help students prepare for live-fire practice at a range. Students receive their certification upon successful completion of the course. Live fire range practice is coordinated on a per student basis.
$50/4 Hours + Range Time
Defensive Handgun Level 1
Looking to develop your shooting skills after completing your basic pistol course? Practicing at a firing range is helpful, but there are limitations.
In our Defensive Handgun class, we cover basic safety, marksmanship, failure drills, and holster training. Afterward, we teach our students how to shoot from various positions and barricades, as well as how to shoot on the move.
Students will need their gun, a holster, a double-magazine holster, three magazines, and at least 250 rounds of ammunition. This is an 8-hour course. Students are required to wear electronic headsets and eye protection. They’re also encouraged to bring water and lunch.

Combat & Tactical Magazine Changes Mini Class
Have you ever wanted to learn what it’s like to load a semi-automatic pistol in action? Loading your semi-automatic pistol at the range is very different from loading it in combat. It’s a lot harder than it seems, but with the right training, you can learn how to load and reload safely and efficiently in high-pressure situations.
In this class, we teach our students how to do tactical and combat reloads, in addition to basic magazine loads. This is not a live-fire class. No ammunition allowed. Students are required to bring their gun, a holster, a double magazine holster, and at least three magazines.
$50/2 Hours
Malfunction Drills Mini Class
Not sure how to deal with semi-automatic failures? What should you do if you ever go to pull the trigger and hear a “click”?
Stovepiping and double feeds are just some examples of firearm malfunction. In our Malfunction Drills class, we’ll explore different kinds of malfunctions and how to handle them.
This is not a live-fire class. No ammunition allowed. Students are required to bring their gun and holster.

Holster Draw Mini Class
Want to become more proficient with your holster? In this class, we’ll teach you how to draw from your holster safely. We’ll also show you how to stow your firearm away safely.
This is not a live-fire class. No ammunition allowed. Students are required to bring their gun and holster. Students can bring up to two holsters, as well as a belt that’s mounted properly to their holster. Students can also bring purses, shoulder holsters, and CCW holsters.
$50/2 Hours
CCW Skill Builder
As a concealed carry permit holder, you may be looking to better understand when and where to draw your firearm. In our CCW Skill Builder class, we expose students to situations where they may be forced to draw their weapon.
Using our laser shot judgment training simulator, students will practice making decisions in their home, car, outside, and in public. We’ll present students with a number of adversaries, including burglars, muggers, carjackers, terrorists, and domestic partners. Students will practice how to draw from their holsters while standing, sitting, and inside their vehicle. This is not a live-fire class.
Gun Cleaning Basics Mini Class
Proper firearm maintenance is crucial to responsible gun ownership. In this class, we’ll show you how to safely clean your revolver or semi-automatic pistol. We’ll teach you how to disassemble your gun and clean the barrel, slide, action, and cylinder. We’ll also show you how to reassemble your firearm safely.
This 1-hour class is demonstration-based, but students are encouraged to bring their own guns and follow along. Our instructors are happy to assist you.

Home Security Mini Class
Crime occurs everywhere, and no homeowner is exempt from break-ins, invasions, and burglaries. The best way to prevent these crimes is to educate yourself, and in this class, we’ll help you understand the basics of home security.
We’ll show you how to secure everything from your windows and doors to your yard. We’ll help you reduce your chances of falling victim to crime by protecting yourself with alarms and home security cameras. We’ll also teach you how to protect yourself against cybercrime.

Refuse To Be a Victim
There’s no shortage of threats out there that can cause you physical, emotional, and financial harm. In the Refuse To Be a Victim® seminar, we’ll teach you how to improve your personal safety in a number of ways.
During this seminar, we’ll teach you about personal safety, home security, cybersecurity, and how to travel safely. We’ll show you how to identify and prevent potential threats, and how to create and use a makeshift weapon in a threatening situation.
This seminar is not a firearms or self-defense class, but we can arm you with the knowledge you need to better protect yourself in all areas of your life.

Repairs & Cleaning
Cleaning your firearm keeps it functioning safely and properly, but you might not always have time to give your firearm thorough attention.
We provide cleaning services for revolvers, semi-automatic pistols, rifles, shotguns, and accompanying equipment. After performing an inspection, we’re prepared to make any suggestions we feel your firearm may need.
We also perform firearm repair services. We can also install sights and optic systems onto your firearm. Contact us today if your firearm needs repairing or an addition installed.
Firearm Consignment
Are you looking to sell your firearm safely and legally? In California, private sales of firearms are allowed, but they must be done through a licensed firearms dealer.
At Black Dog Armory, we can save you the stress and hassle of selling your firearm. We’ll price your firearm and put it up for sale with the rest of our inventory. We’ll ensure the sale of your firearm is completed in accordance with California law.
FFL Transfers & Private Party Transfers
Have you recently purchased a firearm online? Looking to send a firearm out-of-state?
We handle in-state and interstate transfers between other FFL businesses and private parties. We’ll make sure your products arrive and ship out safely, and we’ll oversee the proper transfer of weapons in accordance with state and federal law.
